Detailed course description

To be able to practice as a Nurse or Midwife in Malta, registration under the Maltese Nursing & Midwifery Council is mandatory. A course like this will bridge the knowledge gap and instil the necessary work culture for aspiring Nurses or Midwives to successfully practice in Malta.

The bridging course is designed with the purpose of enhancing the multidisciplinary work skills of students in health & social care settings. Although participating students have preliminary work experience as a Nurse or a Midwife in their home country, it is important to understand local nursing practices in Europe. Hence the bridging program is designed so as to extend their knowledge base in the skills and areas that were not covered in the native study or in their previous workplace.

The students are also exposed to ethical, religious and other related issues for them to cope with work in a foreign country. Adequate training in English proficiency is given to hone their employability skill.

Locating Malta on a world map

Malta is a small island nation located in the centre of the Mediterranean sea in Europe. It is also the smallest member state of the European Union. The country is surrounded majorly by the Sicily region of Italy & the North African coast.

Malta is composed of three islands namely the main island Malta, Gonzo and Comino. Apart from the obvious tourist destination, the economy of Malta depends on foreign trade, manufacturing & film production. The major languages spoken in Malta are English & Maltese. The climate in Malta is defined to be a Mediterranean climate that brings mild winters and hot summers. Rains are frequent in Winter and Autumn.

However, in recent years, the island nation of Malta is becoming a preferred destination for overseas students and professionals looking to work in the EU region. Being a European country, living expense in Malta is surprisingly lesser than what is expected.
