The most common mistake by the IELTS test takers is failing to manage the test timing. Yes, it’s reasonably a tough task to complete the test within a stipulated time period. It’s critical to inhibit the time managerial skills to take up the IELTS exam.

You can avoid consuming a lot of time to answer one particular question and get only a little time to answer the next! You could acquire time management skills by taking up mock tests for IELTS by which you get the ability to judge the time required to answer each question. It’s not rocket science, practice makes perfect!

Spelling and Vocabulary

Yet another mistake by the students while taking IELTS is poor vocabulary and spelling errors! You must strongly consider rectifying this not only for the examination purpose but also for personality development. Your vocabulary really matters. Make sure you’re improving it.

Find the synonyms of different words, try to remember them all and apply them in the sentences you speak. Read a lot, write more, this will help you with your spellings! Your vocabulary makes you a proficient candidate!

Lack of Transition

Transitional phrases are very important which makes up the sentence flow. These words are essential to convey your thoughts perfectly by making connections to the previous sentences.

It helps the readers and listeners understand what your ideologies are about. Transition words give structure to your speech which contributes higher points in your IELTS examination.

Not being Focussed

Pay your attention especially when speaking and listening. Don’t get distracted or stuck with one particular word or sentence. This is another mistake but is avoidable. Make sure you interpreted properly before giving your response. Memorizing sentences and questions is pointless. Don’t try! Observe what is being communicated and respond with a clear answer.

No Blank Answers!

Never leave your answers blank. It’s very prominent to see too! Just write something relevant to the question even though you’re unsure about the answer. You lose nothing. You could even get part marks for making guesses. Perhaps, your guess could be the right answer! Who knows?
